Moving on to gastronomic words of importance, the Swedish word for “spoon” is sked. This is a tricky one for English speakers to pronounce: The sound for the sk part of sked is not commonly used in English and I cannot come up with a similar sound in such a way that I can explain it to you. Luckily, there is another way of pronouncing sk in “sked” which is like sh in “shelf”, then add -ead and form the word sh-ead to successfully pronounce sked. (Pronouncing it like this might make some people think you sound more “posh” actually. It’s all about how to pronounce the “sk”.. )
This was a tricky one, I hope you got it right!
